Mysterious inscriptions on sword blades. Double lightsaber

After the release of the first trailer for the game, many assumed that at some point the main character would be able to repair the found Jedi weapons and receive a double-bladed lightsaber, like Darth Maul. Their guesses were confirmed - Cal can indeed get a double lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but for this it is necessary to perform several not entirely obvious actions.

How to get a double-edged lightsaber

Bogano

You can find an upgrade for your lightsaber in the Bogano location. However, before you can do this, you will need to get your hands on two things:

  • Force Push is one of the main character's skills.
  • Probe adapter (Scomp Link) for the BD-1 droid.

Only with these abilities can you open the way to the desired room. So, go to the location shown in the screenshot above and use Force Pull to create a bridge. Next, follow the road forward to the cave. Enter it and start climbing up the vines.

Continue up and about halfway up you will notice a room that you will need the Droid Adapter Probe to access. Open the door, go inside and find a workbench here. Interact with him so that the main character can repair his lightsaber. As a result, he will have two blades instead of one. In this room you can also find a Force Essense.

Dathomir

A double-bladed lightsaber can also be found on Dathomir. Once on the planet, head to the main island called Strangled Rocks. We explore the location and find the way to another tier, leading to the Upper Strangled Rocks. Then we find ourselves in the Brother's Bastion. Having reached the control point, we go up the hill, deal with the enemies and turn right.

We follow the path forward until we find ourselves in a new room. We pass through it, go up the stairs on the opposite side and find ourselves in the next room. Here we turn left, and then go left again. We fight off the archers' shots, go up to where they just stood, and then continue along the road.

Next we will need to explore the lower level with a huge spider. We jump down, deal with the opponents and exit the door, moving to the left. Ahead we will see a huge temple, to get into which you need to make a jump. However, we don’t do this, we go down the slope and turn left. Below we notice a workbench with which we can make a new lightsaber.

With the release of the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the Respawn Entertainment studio made a real gift for all Star Wars fans. For the first time since the legendary KotOR duology, we have the opportunity to become a real Jedi, fight face to face against imperial troops, use the force and, of course, acquire a personal lightsaber, customizing it to your liking. Therefore, we dedicate this Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order guide entirely to the main symbol of Star Wars - the lightsaber and will tell you how to improve it, how to change the color of the blade and even get a double-sided sword.

The main character of the game, Cal Kestis, receives his first lightsaber from his mentor who suddenly died, placing the building on the young man’s shoulders to revive the Jedi Order. Already in the first hours of the game, you will learn how to operate a plasma saber and will be able to find the first workbench on the ship, which will be useful for modifying your main weapon.

The lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order can be improved in five ways at once, from the color of the blade to the material from which the switch is made. But we’ll immediately answer that any of the modifications is intended only to change the appearance of the sword; do not count on any damage amplifiers. Only many hours of practice will make the sword in your hands a truly deadly weapon. You shouldn’t forget about leveling up your skills either.

To find upgrades for your lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you will have to carefully explore the game world and find dozens of chests that are scattered in abundance across the planets. At the same time, do not forget that in the lower left corner of the screen, when you open the map, you can see information about the number of unopened chests in the location.

How to unlock new lightsaber colors

Early on in the game, Cal's sword can glow in three colors: blue, green, and orange for those who pre-ordered Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. But don't worry, these are not all the options for customizing your weapon. Due to some plot circumstances that we will not reveal, Cal will have to assemble a new lightsaber and here your sense of beauty will be able to run wild.

Depending on the type of kyber crystal, a lightsaber can have the following colors:

  • Green
  • Blue
  • Orange
  • Violet
  • Yellow
  • Indigo
  • Cyan (sea green)
  • Magenta (purple-red)

Where to find a double-bladed lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Now let's move on to Darth Maul's favorite weapon - the double-edged sword. With due diligence, it can be found within the first 5 hours of the game. First, you have to go to the planet Dathomir and explore the “Strangled Rocks” location. We warn you right away - the sand planet will not welcome you with open arms and at the initial levels the opponents may even seem too strong.

Follow the quest sign and in the “Brother’s Bastion” location you will come across a mysterious stranger in a black robe. After talking with him, go down the path on the left until you find the entrance to the cave (see the exact location of the cave in the screenshot below). Go a little further and congratulations, you've found a double-edged sword in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

There is another option to get the modification - go to the planet Bogano. But keep in mind that in the initial stages you simply will not be able to open access to a double-sided sword in the location, since to complete certain sections you will need to learn the “Force Draw” skill.

No matter how much we would like it, a double-sided sword cannot be called an ultimate weapon. In fact, its damage is even lower than that of a standard blade. However, this disadvantage is more than compensated for by more effective reflection of stormtrooper shots and sweeping strikes, which are useful for chopping up numerous enemy squads. You can activate the double sword at the moment when Cal has to assemble a new blade in the middle of the story campaign.

This is where we will finish our Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order guide on lightsabers, but we regret to say that Respawn Entertainment did not provide the ability to fencing with two blades at once. Although during a long combo, the double-sided sword sometimes splits into two separate ones, and thank you for that.

Very early in the game, but also very easy to miss. Let's figure out how to do this.

When you find Eno Cordova's entries in Bogano, you will unlock two new locations on the map: Zeffo and Dathomir. Dathomir is the home world of one of the series' most memorable villains, Darth Maul.

Option 1: Dathomir

The double-bladed lightsaber is good for crowd control, so while its attacks are weaker than a regular lightsaber, the double-bladed option comes in handy when you get into large groups of enemies. To find this lightsaber, go to Dathomir and jump from the landing pad to the main island - Strangled Cliffs.

Explore the area and you'll be able to ascend to another level that leads to the Upper Strangled Cliffs. After this you will find yourself in Brother's Bastion. From the save point, go up the hill and kill the enemies, then turn right and follow the path until you go inside.

Go through this room, then go up the stairs on the other side. In the next room you need to go left, then left again. Shoot the archers' arrows back, then climb up to where they were and continue along the path. You should now examine the lower area with the giant spider. Jump down and kill the enemies, then exit the door to the left.

To your left is a door leading back to the save point, and in front of you is a large temple that you can jump over. Instead of jumping towards the temple, go down the slope and turn left. Down here you will find a workbench with the parts needed to make a double bladed lightsaber.

Option 2: Bogano

On Bogano we go to the Abandoned Workshop. It's worth noting that you won't be able to get here on your first visit to Bogano. You need the Force Pull ability, which is needed to access the workshop.

Here you will find a workspace that you can interact with. After a short cutscene, you will have a lightsaber.

How to change lightsaber color

You can only change the color of your lightsaber in designated areas. This shouldn't be too much of a problem since you can find one such place on board your spaceship. Although on each of the planets there are jobs for customizing the lightsaber.

Blue and green colors are available from the start. Orange is only available as a pre-order bonus, so if you didn't buy the game before its release, you can forget about it.

As for the other five colors (cyan, indigo, magenta, yellow and violet), you will have to find lightsaber crystals to unlock them. These crystals will be automatically opened as you progress through the story - you won't be able to miss them. You'll unlock them all at once as you delve deeper into the Crystal Caves beneath the Jedi Temple on Ilum. When you complete a mission, the game will allow you to choose a color, but all others will become available once you return to the ship.

Description

"Darth Maul's Double-Sided Laser Sword" (“Darth Maul's Double-sided Lightsaber") - a meme based on a series of images of the character Star Wars Darth Maul and his laser sword. There are many different variations and formats of use.

Origin

The scene from which the image is taken was shown in the film Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. In this scene, the film's antagonist, Darth Maul, reveals to the Jedi and the audience that his sword actually has two sides.

Since then, the scene has been parodied in various ways. One of the most famous versions - Star Warrior Guy (Star Wars Kid).

One of the formats created based on the scene originated in mid-2018 by Reddit user Thetrashman754, where an image from the scene became a reference to a scene from the film " Bohemian Rhapsody".

The most popular meme format appeared in March 2019, thanks to Reddit user Tristan_Culbert, and quickly became very popular. It consists of placing text on each side of the laser sword to indicate that they are related or, conversely, contradict each other.

Meaning

The early meme format focused on references to other memes. The most common format first presents the text on one side of the sword as a good thing, and then presents the text on the second side of the sword as a negative surprise in direct relation to the content of the text on the first side.

For example, it can be used to show that the text on the first side of a laser sword has a hidden purpose or surprise attached to it.

Examples

Studying the inscriptions on medieval weapons reveals an interesting story about the mentality and beliefs of both the knights who carried these weapons and the craftsmen who made them. The mystical meaning of these inscriptions was important for the knights participating in the crusades and in the numerous wars of that turbulent time. The sword was a symbol of justice, protection of Christian ideals, peace and tranquility of citizens. They prayed for them, took an oath, made vows. Sometimes the pommel of the handle contained holy relics. Famous swords had their own names. King Arthur's sword was named Excalibur, had magical properties and could heal wounds.

“D NE QVIA VIM PATIOR RESPONDE PRO ME” was translated from Latin as follows: “Lord! So that I do not suffer offense, answer for me.” The first D stands for DOMINE for short. This inscription is derived from a quotation from the Bible Libri Isaiae Capitis XXXVIII versum XIV
DOMINE VIM PATIOR RESPONDE PRO ME
However, often the inscriptions were abbreviated, with the initial letters of religious sayings. Illiterate knights participating in the crusades memorized the words of prayers from the first letters engraved on their swords. This way they could say a prayer before the battle. Let's say:
DIOLAGR reads: “D(e)I O(mnipotentis) LA(us) G(enitricis) R(edemptoris).” Translated from Latin, this means “GLORY to Almighty God, the Mother of the Redeemer.” Another composition ININININININ, despite the abundance of signs, is much simpler and means: I(esu) N(omine), I(esu) N(omine), I(esu) N(omine) and three more repetitions. The text is translated as "In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus..." and three more times. The cryptography SNEMENTS means: S(ankta) N(omin)E M(atris) E(nimo)N T(rinita)S - “Holy In the Name of the Mother of God in the name of the Trinity.”
IHS (Jesus Homini Salvator) or the letters S, O, X used separately (Salvator - Savior, Omnipotentes - Almighty, Xristus - Christ).

IN NOMINE DOMINI (In the name of the Lord)
SOLI DEO GLORIA (Only for the glory of God)
USSU TUO DOMINE (By your command, O Lord)
IN TI DOMINI (In your name, Lord)
IN DEO GLORIA (For the glory of God)
PRO DEO ET RELIGIONE VERA (For God and true religion)
IVDICA DOMINE NOCENTES ME EXPUGNA IMPUGNATES ME, representing the first stanza of Psalm 34: “Judge, O Lord, those who contend with me, fight those who contend with me.”
FIDE SED CUI VIDE (Believe, but be careful who you believe)
ELECTIS CANCIONATUR DEO GLORIA DATUR (The elect sing and give glory to the Lord)
PAX PARTA TUENDA (An equal peace must be preserved)
ROMANIS SACRIFICATUR PARAE GLORIA DATUR (Prayer is offered by the Romans and the Pope is glorified)

Later, when the sword came into use as an indispensable attribute of a noble family, which was worn constantly, and which meant readiness to defend honor and dignity at any moment, another kind of inscription appeared:
VINCERE AUT MORI (To win or to die)
INTER ARMA SILENT LEGES (Laws are silent among weapons)
FIDE, SED CUI VIDE (Believe, but see who)

Some Latin mottos can be classified as moral and ethical instructions. Let's say:
TEMERE NEC TIMIDE (Do not insult and do not be afraid),
VIM SUPERAT RATIO (Reason overcomes strength)
HOCTANGI MORTI FERRUM (Touch with this iron is deadly)
RECTE FACIENDO NEMINEM TIMEAS (Fear nothing, doing the right thing)

There are inscriptions in national European languages, often meaning mottos:
Ne te tire pas sans raison ne me remette point sans honneur (Don't bare me unnecessarily, don't sheath me without honor)
Honni soit qui mal y pense (Shame on anyone who thinks badly about it)
Dieu mon esperance, Iéré pour à defence (God is my hope, the sword is my defense).

Often the inscriptions on weapons are of a mixed nature, reflecting the new ideology of the absolutist monarchy:
PRO GLORIA ET PATRIA (For Glory and Fatherland)
PRO DEO ET PATRIA (For God and Fatherland)
VIVAT REX (Long Live the King)

There were also frequent poetic inscriptions, characteristic only of these execution instruments: Die hersen Steiiren Demvnheil
Jch ExeQuire Jhr Vrtheil
Wandem sunder wirt abgesagt das leben
Sowirt er mir vnter meine handt gegeben
(Hearts rule misery
I carry out your sentence
A sinner when his life is taken
Then it is handed over to me).

Other inscriptions on the blades:
“Cuando esta vivora pica, No hay remedio en la botica” (there is no medicine for this viper in the pharmacy). Inscription on the navaja, given to Stalin by the Spanish Republicans.

"Die evildoer by my hand." Inscription on a hunting dagger. Chrysostom, 1880s.

"Meine Ehre heißt Treue" (My honor is called loyalty). motto on SS daggers (Schutz Staffeln)

"Mort aux boches" (Death is unchure). Boche is a French disparaging/foul-mouthed name for Germans. Inscriptions on the blades of the French resistance.
“Beware of false friends yourself, but I will save you from enemies.” Latin inscription on the saber of the Polish king John Sobieski
“In truth there is strength” inscription on the saber of lame Timur
Melius non incipient, quam desinent -
It's better not to start than to stop halfway
Serva me - servabo te - save me - I will save you
Mehr sein als scheinen - Be better than you seem
Oderint, dum metuant. - Let them hate - they were too afraid.
“Don’t take it out without need, don’t put it in without glory”
“Do not swear an oath without faith; having sworn an oath, believe” is one of the many mottos on Cossack checkers.
“In hostem omnia licita.” - In relation to the enemy, everything is permitted. (Latin)
In omnia paratus – ready for anything
Ultima ratio - the final argument
