Prayer to Nicholas, God's Helper. Prayer to Nicholas the saint, I ask you, saint of God. Prayer to Saint Nicholas against vain slander

NICHOLAS THE PLEASER - FAST HELP Delving with spiritual reasoning into the life of the saint and wonderworker Nicholas of Myra, we ask ourselves the question: what did he do in his life such that his veneration embraced a universal scale? We know, for example, that the works of the Apostle Paul, Anthony the Great, Macarius the Great two thousand years later turn the souls of those who read. There are millions of those whom they saved with their writings. What did Saint Nicholas of Christ write? Nothing, not a single line, reached us. Why is there such a scale of national veneration of this particular saint? After all, it is amazing that it is difficult to find an Orthodox home where there would not be his holy image. Did everyone call on John of Kronstadt? No, not all. And everyone knows Nikolai Ugodnik. Muslims even call on his name. This saint of God is so quick, how strong is his prayer to the Lord, that words cannot be found - the Lord shows such strength for his prayers. How did he deserve such power of prayers before God? We read the life and see: he didn’t do anything special. He was for the name of Christ before the adoption of the Edict of Constantine in 313 in the persecution for Christ - he spent several years in prison. John the Theologian spent 25 years in hard labor in a quarry. The martyr Abraham was torn to pieces and quartered among the crowd by his relatives. Maybe the saint performed some kind of prayerful feats or some special fast? Nothing has been said about this, no knowledge about it has reached us. He was at the Ecumenical Council and rose up against the heresy of Arianism along with other fathers. But he did not do as much to defeat Arianism as, for example, Cyril of Alexandria and Macarius the Great. So what is this saint of God known for, why does the Lord hear his prayers so much, why does he perform such amazing miracles for his prayers? The question is very important and very fundamental for you and me. This is not a question of idle historical curiosity; this question is relevant to each of us. If the Lord hears His saint the wonderworker Nicholas like this, if such miracles are performed through his prayers, then one thing turns out: as if his life was already truly great, although unknown. That’s why it’s great because it’s unknown. You and I know the words of Christ the Savior that when doing good, one should not sound a trumpet before oneself (see Matt. 6:2), and that the left hand should not know what the right hand is doing (see Matt. 6: 3). We, having not done a good deed, take a big trumpet and blow it on all corners: “I want to do such and such a good thing.” And if they did, then the tongue almost falls off from the praise. If we refrain from boasting out loud, then inside, in our souls, we think highly of ourselves. We torment everyone and torment ourselves, seeking human glory for ourselves. And that’s why, if we do something good, we turn it into evil with vanity, by tickling our pride. No exploits are known about Saint Nicholas, no deeds are known. He performed good deeds, his exploits not before people, not so that someone would write it down and glorify him or he would glorify or praise himself, but before God in complete selflessness. And these small touches from his life that we know speak about this. For example, it is known that when he was a bishop in Myra, he learned that one of the people of this city, once rich and influential, had become poor. He had three daughters; and they were at the age when they needed to be married off. It was necessary to get married with a dowry at that time. A dowerless woman is one who will never marry or marry some old widower. So, he became impoverished and there was no question of a dowry for his three daughters. And what did their father intend? He decided to open a private brothel. Who will work in it? Yes, his daughter. Prostitutes. And he, as they say now, is a pimp. He will count the money. What is this all for? Yes, to save money, and then, for the benefit of their daughters, to go to another place where no one knows them, to erase everything that happened. There will already be money with this dowry acquired in this way, then they will be worthily married off. He didn’t think about his daughters or his soul; it was important for him to be in the spirit of the times. After all, we know about ourselves how important it is to us what people say about us, how sensitively we treat this painful topic. We don't care what God says. This is what vicious people like me will say, their opinion is very important to me. Saint Nicholas found out about this. And what does he do? It is written in the life: at night he walks quietly and collects what he had in a wallet - a leather bag - and quietly throws it through the window into the house. The owner saw that something had fallen. I went to look. Fathers, gold, money! What it is? I went out - there was no one, silence. This man married his eldest daughter without sin. Bishop Nicholas found out about this and repeated the same thing for the second time quietly at night. The father gave away his second daughter. He realized that this is not just a miracle, someone is clearly helping. But he didn’t know who and began to follow. And when his hand reached out to the window for the third time, he jumped out of the house. And there is only a figure receding into the distance. He runs and asks to stop. He doesn't stop, he runs further. The father barely caught up with the mysterious man: this is the bishop of our city, Nikolai! Vladyka made him promise that while he was alive, he would not tell anyone about this and forgot about it himself. And so, saving his soul and the souls of his daughters, he accomplished his work according to the gospel commandment: the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing. He did his alms in secret, without blowing a trumpet before himself. This touch from the life of Nikolai Ugodnik shows why so little is known about his life. His whole life was hidden in Christ. He didn’t care what people would say about him, what opinion he would have in the eyes of people. It was important for him that his heart burn with the Holy Spirit. The second case was when troops marched east through the Myra Lycian region. At this time, there was a brutal long war between Byzantium and Iran and a military unit passed through the city. Three military leaders witnessed a picture that amazed them: an execution was being prepared in the central square, and at that time the bishop of the city, Nikolai, ran out of the crowd and held the executioner’s hand, preventing the execution from taking place. The executioner was at a loss and did not know what to do, and this Nikolai began to say that the victim was innocently convicted and that he could prove this man was right. Let’s just think about it: a high-ranking nobleman was sentenced to execution. The reason was, of course, intrigue. He was brought down by someone stronger than him, and this bishop stands up for him. What will happen to the one who prevented him from limelighting and robbing this rich man? Did Saint Nicholas think about this? No. He did not want to please the mighty of this age, but so that God’s truth would triumph. He was an archbishop, a shepherd who was supposed to save, preserve. He did not think about himself, but about each of those who were faithful to him. The three commanders were shocked by what they saw. They saw executions many times and participated in them themselves. But for someone to cover up the accused so disinterestedly was rare. Soon these military leaders were recalled from the army to the court of Emperor Constantine and imprisoned without trial. They sat there and did not understand what had happened. Having used connections and money, bribed someone, they learned that a slander had been erected against them, some kind of slander was being prepared and they were preparing for execution. What could they do? Despair and horror were about to overwhelm them. And what did they come up with? They came up with a prayer that they began to pray. They were not Christians, but pagans, and began to say this: “God, in whom Bishop Nicholas from the city of Myra believes, hear us and help us!” See how interesting they saw the power of the bishop? They understood who she was from and began to pray to this God. Soon they were summoned to the emperor, who began to ask whether they knew the Orthodox bishop and described his appearance: gray hair, beard, short stature, receding hairline. One of the military leaders says: “We don’t know personally, but we saw him. According to the description, this is a bishop in the city of Mira.” The emperor asked: “What connects you with him?” They say: “Nothing but a prayer to the God Whom he serves, that that God will save us.” Constantine was silent and said that at night in a dream a bishop with the appearance he described appeared to him and ordered him not to do harm to the innocent and to release those slandered in vain from prison, and threatened him with punishment if he did not obey. The Emperor ordered a clear investigation, during which it became clear that they had been slandered in vain. For the sake of our own earthly good, we are ready to sell and betray anyone, or at least modestly remain silent, not protecting the innocent. The one whose memory we commemorate today was not like that. And that is why the Lord, seeing the secret exploits of the saint, intercession for the innocent, helping the disadvantaged, in which this servant of God succeeded so much, raised him to such a great height of Christlikeness that now his prayers have ineffable power. It will be right, I think, if I talk about the last fact that I experienced as a priest, in the story of a man who was shocked by the prayer of St. Nicholas. Pilgrims arrived, among whom was one man. He tells me, “I was in your church four weeks ago. I came because I had a problem. I held a very high position, I was used to living like a lord, on a grand scale. I gathered a team around me that supported me, and lived comfortably. But those whom I raised, they later threw me down in an affair. And I go from princes to rags. And my daughter’s wedding was approaching this time, and I promised my only daughter a wedding - there’s so much money! I was left without anything at all, but I couldn’t go back on my word, I got into debt. They celebrated my daughter’s wedding like a princess, and now I’m in such debt that I’m even afraid to think about this figure, and I can’t imagine how I’ll live now after many years of lordship in the dirt. Then I came here, and you advised me to pray every Thursday at eight in the evening, reading an akathist to St. Nicholas the Pleasant. And so, as they told me, I strictly carry out everything.” Question: what is this “everything”? Once a week he reads an akathist to Saint Nicholas, 20 minutes. For a long time? He said it himself: 4 weeks. That's the whole task, that's the whole feat that he accomplished. And now he arrived and asked a question: “I began to read the akathist: a friend remembered me and called me to a high position. I began to think: “Should I go or not?” At this time, another calls, having learned that I am now out of work. He's calling me too. I’m thinking: “Where is better?” While I was thinking, the third one remembered me. So I came to seek advice on which of the three places is best to go.” All three positions are commanding, all three are just sitting and pointing fingers. I told him: “Tell me, what is most important to you in this work?” He says: “The truth?” - “Of course the truth!” He replies: “It’s a shame to say this in church, but it’s important to me now, I’m in severe debt with this wedding... And I live not according to my capabilities, but according to my needs, debts do not stop growing... Money is important to me so that pay off debts." - “So choose the position where there is more money.” He paused and said: “All three positions are of high position and very monetary, all three.” I couldn’t help but burst into tears: “Listen, brother, 60 years old suits you, have you ever prayed to God or not?” He says: "Never." - “Now listen to what happened to you: when you were 60 years old, you remembered God for the first time. And not because your soul asked for the truth or about eternity, but you remembered God. No, money, money, a luxurious life, that’s what made you turn to God, and you began to pray. And how many times did you pray in four weeks? How many Thursdays? Four times. Nikolai the Pleasant asks the King of the Worlds for you, and the Lord, hearing the prayer of Nicholas the Pleasant for you, came out to meet you and on a tray with a gold border carries three positions, three positions, all three are in command, and one is richer than the other, and says: “You me At the age of 60 I remembered for the first time, but Nikolai Ugodnik is asking for you. Choose. I do not like? Maybe I can offer you something even better?” Amazing! Do you actually hear what you are saying?” He looked at me, paused and with tears in his eyes said: “Now no one can tear God out of my heart with a hot iron!” See how the Holy Spirit works through the prayers of Nicholas the Pleasant! He didn’t just beg this man for a position or money. No, he did it in such a way that the fire of faith lit up in his heart so that now no one can burn it out with a red-hot iron, as he said. It turns out that while solving an earthly problem, Saint Nicholas turned him to God all his life. This is how the saints of God act! This seems to be an everyday example. But Saint Nicholas did not manifest himself in great things, not in the affairs of an entire country or state, like St. Sergius, but in the personal lives of specific people, seeing a specific need, helping a specific person in a specific need. Acting by the power of God and solving a specific earthly problem, it leads the soul to transformation, turns it 180 degrees towards God, and directs its feet towards the Kingdom of God. The mercy of the Lord is multiplied by the prayer of the saints, pouring out in an inexhaustible stream upon us who ask Him for mercy. This world is changing, but the love of God and the love of His saints for Him and for us remain unchanged. Prayer to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker

so that I don’t enter into bliss.

Only where grief appeared,

Prom comes once in a lifetime. Moreover, it is often called “prom”. And therefore, both parents and graduates themselves take it too seriously, which is where they get into trouble. The Orthodox are lucky: they do not have this temptation of non-church youth, they say, graduation is the moment when legally, in front of all the honest people, we can show that now we are adults, we have been drinking and smoking for a long time, and now even more so, because we will have mini skirts and fishnet tights with butterflies. And in twenty years (what’s it like in twenty years, already in three years) they will look at the graduation photos and be horrified.

As part of the work of the Public Council, a member of which is the rector of the Holy Spiritual Church, Archpriest Igor Kornatovsky, a raid was carried out jointly with traffic police officers.

We glorify your Christmas, St. Nicholas

CHRISTMAS OF OUR FATHER IN THE SAINTS

NICOLA ARCHBISHOP OF MYRA,

There are only four Christmas holidays in church services: the Nativity of the Lord, the Mother of God, John the Baptist and St. Nicholas the Pleasant.

On the same day, August 11, the holy parents of Nicholas the Wonderworker, who were childless for a long time, are also remembered - Theophan and Nonna.

This great saint performed many great and glorious miracles on land and sea.

He helped those in trouble, saved them from drowning and brought them to land from the depths of the sea, freed them from captivity and brought those freed home, delivered them from bonds and prison, protected them from being cut by the sword, freed them from death and gave many various healings, the blind - sight, the lame - walking, for the deaf - hearing, for the dumb - the gift of speech.

He enriched many who were living in squalor and extreme poverty, served food to the hungry, and was a ready helper, a warm intercessor and a quick intercessor and defender for everyone in every need.

It is impossible to count his miracles just as it is impossible to describe all of them in detail. This great miracle worker is known to the East and the West, and his miracles are known in all corners of the earth. May the Triune God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in him, and may his holy name be praised with lips forever.

Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker continues to help people with prayer and miracles.

“Oh Saint Nicholas, Pleasant of the Lord! During your life, you did not refuse people their requests, but do not now refuse the servant of the Lord (your name). Send down your mercy and ask the Lord for my speedy marriage. I surrender to the will of the Lord and trust in His mercy. Amen".

Strive soon and deliver the flock of Christ from the wolves that are destroying it, and protect every Christian country and save the saints with your prayers from worldly rebellion, cowardice, invasion of foreigners and internecine warfare, from famine, flood, fire, sword and vain death. And just as you had mercy on three men sitting in prison, and you delivered them from the king’s wrath and the beating of the sword, so have mercy on me, in mind, word and deed, drying out the darkness of sins, and deliver me from the wrath of God and eternal punishment; for through your intercession and help, with His mercy and grace, Christ God will give me a quiet and sinless life to live in this world, and deliver me to the right hand with all the saints. Amen".

Nikolai Ugodnik lived to a ripe old age and died a gray-haired old man at the age of 94. He was buried in a church in Myra (Türkiye) on December 6 (19), 352.

Prayer to Nicholas the Wonderworker for good luck and luck

O all-praised, great wonderworker, saint of Christ, Father Nicholas!

From Akathist to Saint Nicholas

On December 19, the Orthodox Church celebrates the memory of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, one of the most revered Christian saints, and on May 22, it remembers the transfer of his holy relics to the Italian city of Bari, where they remain to this day.

The rule is the image and image of meekness, self-control of the teacher, show you to your flock the same things as the Truth .

This is how the Holy Church of Christ glorifies the great saint of God, quick helper and man of prayer - St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

There were many great and glorious saints in the Church of Christ, but one of the most revered was Saint Nicholas. Saint Nicholas is revered by the entire Christian world, because he is near and dear to every grieving soul with his quick response to prayer for help.

Saint Nicholas was born in the 3rd century in the city of Patras, Asia Minor, into a pious family.

From a young age, Saint Nicholas was filled with grace-filled spiritual strength: zeal for God, love for Him and for people, a thirst for spiritual achievement.

The life of Nicholas the Saint is very modest and, in fact, we know very little about his earthly life. We know that he was a most pious presbyter, and later bishop of the Lycian city of Myra, we know that he fearlessly stood up for those innocently condemned to death, we know that by secret, but generous, alms he saved three poor girls from dishonor and shame.Every time we commemorate St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, we hear during the service the Gospel parable about the good shepherd (John 10:14), about how he enters the sheepfold, how the doorman opens the door for him and the shepherd calls his sheep, calling each by name, and they, knowing his voice, trustingly go to him, and he, when he sees the wolf coming, lays down his life for them.

Saint Nicholas of Christ is a gracious physician, a merciful nourisher, a wonderful deliverer from troubles and misfortunes of many, becoming a good shepherd not only for his flock, but for all Christians.

Who among us would not want this shepherd of Christ to lead him, and protect him, and call him by name, and intercede for him, and pray for him? But for this you need to hear his voice, follow his teaching and imitate his holy life.

We call Saint Nicholas the image of meekness, that is, the example of love, mercy and forgiveness. This means that we ourselves must embody in our lives the covenants of love, meekness, forgiveness and mercy. His prayer helps us to stand in this world, helps us overcome unbelief and doubt, and helps us not to fall into despair. We ask that Saint Nicholas strengthen us in faith, in hope, in love, which you and I so need, without which our life becomes dark, meaningless, aimless; without which we, withdrawing into ourselves, turn, like Lot’s wife, into a pillar of salt.

Let us pray earnestly, beloved brothers and sisters, to the good shepherd, Saint and Wonderworker Nicholas, may he instruct us to be imitators of his holy life, and protect us with his prayers from all evil!

Oh, Holy Hierarch Father Nicholas, pray for us, like a good shepherd, for your verbal flock! Amen.

Archpriest Roman Utochkin, rector of the Archangel Michael Church

Say a prayer to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker! You will find luck and your wishes will come true! Nikolai the Pleasant of God! Helper of God! Intercede and save from all evil... Protect my family from illness!

Saint Nicholas began to be called a wonderworker for a reason. This saint works miracles when people ask him for help and turn to him in prayer. Even in ancient times, Nicholas the Wonderworker was revered because he supported sailors, travelers, merchants, and unjustly convicted children. Prayers addressed to Nicholas the Wonderworker must be read with caution so as not to anger the saint. They will only help those who really believe in him and really need his help and support.

In Western folk Christianity, his image was combined with the image of a folklore character - “Christmas grandfather” - and transformed into Santa Claus (Santa Claus translated from English as Saint Nicholas). Santa Claus gives children gifts for Christmas.

Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker (Nikolai Ugodnik) is especially revered by Orthodox believers. This saint is considered the closest to God and a mediator between the Almighty and man, which is why prayers addressed to him are the most powerful and effective.

There is a special prayer to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which can fulfill any good desire of a person. You can address your requests to the saint at any time. But, according to believers, prayers will be answered faster on the days of memory of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker - December 19 and May 22. On the days popularly called the days of Nicholas the Winter and Nicholas the Summer.

Prayer to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker for a wish:

“Wonderworker Nicholas, help me with my mortal desires. Do not be angry at the impudent request, but do not abandon me in vain matters. Whatever I wish for good, fulfill with your mercy. If I want something bad, turn away adversity. May all righteous wishes come true, and may my life be filled with happiness. Thy will be done, amen."

After this prayer, think about your desire. It must be kind and not cause harm to others, otherwise it will not be fulfilled.

Prayer for luck:
Believers ask this amazing Saint for absolutely all their desires. Having secured the support of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, a person is able to overcome any difficulties and achieve unprecedented heights. There is a powerful and effective prayer for luck, which must be read before the image of St. Nicholas:

“Oh, all-validated, great wonderworker, Saint of Christ, Father Nicholas!

We pray to you, be the hope of all Christians, the faithful protector, the hungry feeder, the weeping joy, the sick doctor, the steward of those floating on the sea, the poor and orphan feeder and the quick helper and patron of everyone, may we live a peaceful life here and may we be worthy to see the glory of God’s elect in heaven , and with them unceasingly sing the praises of the one worshiped God in the Trinity forever and ever. Amen."

Get serious about prayer, say your words with your soul and awareness of what and to whom you are saying it. And most importantly, trust not only in the saints, but also in yourself. Good luck!

For help in any matter, pray to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker!

The main prayers to the holy saints of God. How, in what cases and before which icon to pray

About Prayer

Prayer is a conversation with God.

She is winged like a bird.

Rushing towards the Royal palaces,

So that we can drink living water.

Zinaida Zinchenko

Prayer is a kind of “conversation”, or rather, is our communication with God, His Most Pure Mother and the holy saints of God. As Elder Arseny (Streltsov) wrote: “Prayer is diverse and for each person it comes from the heart (soul) in its own way, depending on the internal structure, spiritual experience, the ability to tune oneself to prayerful communication...”

The prayer is accompanied by the sign of the cross, bows and is performed in front of holy icons with the invocation of the Lord God, the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints.

Prayers are divided into:

church (cathedral) and home, or public and private,

external and internal.

According to the holy fathers, one prayer “Lord, have mercy” in church has much greater power than many prayers and bows at home. Indeed, in the church, all believers collectively, as if with one mouth and one heart, confess the Lord; here He is closer to each person praying and is more likely to accept his prayers than anywhere else. Moreover, the poverty of the prayer of one is filled by the faith of another, strengthened by the prayers of the clergy, affirmed by the presence of the Holy Mysteries, singing and reading the Holy Scriptures.

Without even saying to yourself the words of any specific prayers (which is forgivable for beginners), but reverently listening to everything that happens in the house of God, you are imbued with a general prayerful mood and are also a participant in the congregational prayer.

Home But prayer, mostly solitary prayer, does not have such grace-filled power as common prayer, the prayer of the Church, about which the Lord Himself said this: “Truly I also say to you that if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven, for where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I in the midst of them.”(Matt. 18, 19–20). As a rule, Orthodox Christians perform it in their homes (apartments) in a special place - the so-called “red corner”.

We especially note that home prayer must necessarily be supplemented by Church prayer (participation in divine services).

Conditions for successful prayer

Before you start praying, prepare yourself - stand silently for a while, preferably with your eyes closed, until your scattered thoughts come together and silence is established in your heart, agitated by feelings.

Imagine yourself before the Face of a merciful God, looking at you and accepting your prayer... Remember that before you is a merciful Father, giving blessings to those who ask Him.

Pray with strong faith, for whatever you ask in prayer in faith, you will receive(Matt. 21, 22).

Pray with constancy, with tirelessness today, tomorrow, a year, two - until you finally receive what you ask for, if not for virtue, then for your persistence.

Pray with humility and contrition for your sins, for the Lord says: “To whom will I look: to him who is humble and contrite in spirit, and to him who trembles at My word”(Isa. 66:2).

Pray with all your heart – ardently and fervently. If you can, pray with tears, and not just with your lips and tongue, so that your prayer is not in vain.

When praying for earthly needs, do not pray for something vain, fleeting: for wealth, power, fame, but ask for eternal, spiritual blessings: faith, hope, love, humility, the gift of prayer, spiritual wisdom, devotion to the will of God.

Pray with a reconciled heart, otherwise your prayer will be in vain - according to the words of St. Ephraim the Syrian: “See, beloved, that we do not labor in vain when we pray, if we have enmity against anyone.”

The evangelists also spoke about this:

“When you stand in prayer, forgive if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”(Mark 11:25) - therefore pray for your enemies (Matthew 5:44).

Bishop Pavel (Ivanovsky)

How often should you pray

Since prayer brings us closer to God and enlightens us, the more often we pray, the better.

Each of us should, to the best of our ability, strive to acquire (acquire) unceasing prayer, but every Orthodox Christian must necessarily pray:

in the morning, rising from sleep, thanking God for his preservation at night and asking for blessings for the coming day and work;

In the evening, going to bed, thanking God for the day and asking him to save him at night;

during the day - before the beginning of each task and at its completion, before and after eating (1 Cor. 10, 30-31). For, as John of Damascus said:

“A table (meal) without prayer is not much different from a stable for animals.”

Bishop Pavel (Ivanovsky)

Holy Fathers on Prayer
Venerable Ephraim the Syrian (IV century):

If prayer precedes the work and, upon rising from your bed, you devote your first movements to prayer, then sin will not find access to the soul. Prayer is a protective means for chastity, training the heart, taming arrogance, cleansing from memory of malice, exterminating hatred, correcting wickedness.

Prayer is strength to the body, prosperity to the home, improvement to the city, power to the kingdom, a sign of victory during battle, strength to the world.

Prayer is the seal of virginity, the fidelity of marriage, the weapon of travelers, the guardian of those who sleep, the trustworthiness of those who are awake, the fruitfulness of farmers, the salvation of those who swim.

Prayer is the intercessor of those on trial, consolation for prisoners, consolation for those who mourn, joy for those who rejoice, encouragement for those who cry, a holiday on birthdays, a crown for spouses, burial for the dead.

Prayer is a conversation with God, equality with the Angels, success in good, aversion from evil, correction for those who sin...

In a person’s entire life there is no other asset more precious than prayer. Never move away from her, never leave her...

Saint John Chrysostom (347–407):

The greatest good is prayer and conversation with God. It is communion and unity with God. The soul, rushing towards God, is illuminated by His spoken, shining light. This is a prayer not only in appearance, but sent from the heart, not determined by certain times and number of hours, but performed incessantly, night and day. It is necessary not only for those who retire to pray, but also for those who are engaged in good deeds to direct their thoughts to God in a learned manner. We can gain great benefit from such prayer by devoting most of our time to it.

Prayer is the sacred messenger. It cheers the heart, calms the soul, arouses the fear of punishment and desire for the Kingdom of Heaven, teaches humility, and brings knowledge of sin. In a word, it adorns a person with everything good, covering the soul with various virtues, like a veil. This is a desire for God, unspeakable love.

Venerable Seraphim of Sarov (1759–1833):

Attention and prayer, always united together, like Elijah’s fiery chariot, lift the one who abides in them to the heights of heaven.

Pray for everyone - you will do a lot of good...

Those who truly decide to serve the Lord God must practice the memory of God and unceasing prayer to Jesus Christ, saying with their minds: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” In the afternoon hours, you can say this prayer like this: “ Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Or you can actually resort to the Most Holy Theotokos, praying: “ Most Holy Theotokos, save us"; or say angelic congratulations: “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice.”

By such an exercise, while protecting oneself from distraction and maintaining peace of conscience, one can draw closer to God and unite with Him. For, according to Saint Isaac the Syrian, except for unceasing prayer, we cannot get closer to God.

About military prayer :...Faith and prayer have great power in battles. Firmly believe that the Lord alone is the Lord of our life and death, and therefore He alone can deliver us from the latter and preserve the former. Pray that the Lord will forgive you your sins, that He will protect you with His almighty power from fire and sword, that He will crush the power of the enemy and put all your enemies under your feet. When praying, console yourself with the thought that your prayer before battles, like a sorrowful prayer, will sooner reach God and be heard by Him sooner, as He Himself says: call upon Me in the day of your tribulation, and I will destroy you.

Pray and you will be saved.

Saint Ignatius Brianchaninov (1807–1867):

Absent-mindedness robs prayer. The one who has prayed absent-mindedly feels an unaccountable emptiness and dryness within himself.

The dignity of prayer lies solely in quality, and not in quantity. Then quantity is commendable when it leads to quality... The quality of true prayer is that the mind is attentive during prayer, and the heart sympathizes with the mind.

The state of deep, constant attention during prayer comes from the touch of Divine grace on our spirit. The granting of grace-filled attention to the one praying is an initial spiritual gift from God.

The gift of attentive prayer is usually preceded by special sorrows and mental shocks, which reduce our spirit to the depths of consciousness of poverty and insignificance.

Venerable Silouan of Athos (Semyon Antonov) (1866–1938):

The Lord wants to save everyone and calls the whole world to His goodness. The Lord does not take away the will from the soul, but with His grace pushes it towards goodness and draws it towards His love. And when the Lord wants to have mercy on someone, he inspires others with the desire to pray for him, and helps in this prayer. Therefore, you should know that when the desire to pray for someone comes, it means that the Lord Himself wants to have mercy on that soul and mercifully listens to your prayers.

Archimandrite John (Krestyankin) (1910–2006) (from letters to spiritual children):

Learning to pray is a long process and great work; you need a lot of patience in this school. But for those who endure all the hardships of this science, life becomes a joy in the Lord.

Begin this work by acquiring attention to your thoughts and the ability to instantly turn a repentant sigh to the Lord. Do not think highly of yourself, and the Lord will help you.

"If you want to live easily
And close to God
Keep your heart high
And keep your head down."

You need to pray, this is the school of prayer. I won’t explain this to you theoretically. Prayer is best taught by harsh life. It's not a matter of quantity, it's a matter of living appeal to the living God.

You can learn to pray by starting to pray not only with your tongue, but with your heart turning to the Lord.

Only prayer and burning spirit can restore both the walls of the temple and, most importantly, the temples not made by hands - the souls of the lost, and return them to God revived.

Accustom yourself to begin and end every task with prayer. And then life will go on the same course, but its content will be different. It will all be sanctified by God's blessing. Just don't make up your life.

We do not have the goal of starving ourselves and exhausting ourselves, but the goal of prayer is to learn to humbly surrender ourselves to the will of God and patiently endure everything that the Lord allows.

Prayer itself will teach you to pray, just as life itself teaches you to live.

So I found two prayers from St. Theophan and I am very consoled by them, given my over-concern, this is very good.

"God! You know everything; do to me as you please."

and the second:

"God! God!

Help and grant me strength to walk in Your will. Amen".

Elder Paisiy Svyatogorets (1924–1994):

Night prayer in silence, thanks to silence, is very useful and most fruitful for our spiritual development, just as quiet night rain is very useful for the growth of plants.

Natural carnal warfare recedes thanks to fasting, vigil, prayer, if there is no pride.

Prayers to the holy saints of God

Against the harm caused by witchcraft. Hieromartyr Cyprian and Holy Martyr Justina

Oh, holy martyr Cyprian and martyr Justina!

Hear our humble prayer. Even though you naturally died as a martyr for Christ during your temporary life, you do not depart from us in spirit, always following the commandments of the Lord, teaching us and patiently bearing your cross with us. Behold, by boldness towards Christ God and His Most Pure Mother we gained in nature.

Even now, be prayer books and intercessors for us unworthy.

Be our intercessors of the fortress, so that through your intercession we may remain unharmed from demons, wise men and evil men, glorifying the Holy Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Enlighten the icon of St. Tikhon, Bishop of Voronezh, Wonderworker of Zadonsk

Despondent. Saint Tikhon, Bishop of Voronezh, Zadonsk Wonderworker

Oh, all-praised saint and saint of Christ, our Father Tikhon!

Having lived like an angel on earth, you, like a good angel, appeared in your wondrous glorification. We believe with all our souls and thoughts that you, our merciful helper and prayer book, with your honest intercessions and grace, abundantly given to you from the Lord, are constantly contributing to our salvation. Accept it, blessed servant of Christ, and at this hour our unworthy prayer; free us through your intercession from the vanity and superstition that surrounds us, the unbelief and evil of man. Strive, speedy representative for us, to beg the Lord with your favorable intercession, may He add His great and rich mercy to us, His sinful and unworthy servants, may He heal with His grace the incurable ulcers and scabs of our corrupted souls and bodies, may He dissolve our petrified hearts with tears of tenderness and contrition for our many sins, and may He deliver us from eternal torment and the fire of Gehenna. May He grant to all His faithful people peace and quiet, health and salvation, and good haste in everything, so that having lived a quiet and silent life in all piety and purity, let us be worthy to glorify and chant the All-Holy Name of the Father with the angels and with all the saints and the Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

Martyr Paraskeva Friday

Oh, holy and blessed martyr of Christ Paraskeva, maiden beauty, praise of the martyrs, purity of image, magnanimous mirrors, wonder of the wise, guardian of the Christian faith, idolatry flattery to the accuser, champion of the Divine Gospel, zealot of the Lord’s commandments, honored to come to the haven of eternal rest and in the devil’s chamber of the Bridegroom your Christ God, brightly rejoicing, adorned with the extreme crown of virginity and martyrdom!

We pray to you, holy martyr: be sorrowful for us to Christ God, whose most blessed vision will always rejoice. Pray to the All-Merciful One, Who opened the eyes of the blind with a word, that He may deliver us from the illness of our hair, both physical and mental; With your holy prayers, kindle the dark darkness that has come from our sins, ask the Father of light for the light of grace in our souls and bodies; Enlighten us, darkened by sins, with the light of God’s grace, so that for the sake of your holy prayers sweet vision will be given to the dishonest.

Oh, great servant of God! O most courageous maiden! Oh, strong martyr Saint Paraskeva! With your holy prayers, be a helper to us sinners, intercede and pray for the damned and very negligent sinners, hasten to help us, for we are very weak. Pray to the Lord, pure maiden, pray to the Merciful, holy martyr, pray to your Bridegroom, immaculate bride of Christ, that through your prayers we may, having escaped the darkness of sin, in the light of the true faith and deeds of God, enter into the eternal light of the unevening day, into the city of everlasting joy, in where you now shine brightly with glory and endless joy, glorifying and singing with all the Heavenly Powers the Trisagion of the One Deity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. For headaches. Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John

To the Baptist of Christ, preacher of repentance, do not despise me who repents, but copulate with the howls of Heaven, praying to the Lady for me, unworthy, sad, weak and sad, fallen into many troubles, burdened by the stormy thoughts of my mind: for I am a den of evil deeds, by no means have an end to the sinful custom, for my mind is nailed down by earthly things. What will I do, I do not know, and to whom will I resort, so that my soul will be saved? Only to you, Saint John, give the same name of grace, for you are before the Lord through the Mother of God, greater than all who were born, for you were honored to touch the top of the King Christ, who takes away the sins of the world, the Lamb of God. Pray to him for my sinful soul, so that from now on, at the first ten hour, I will bear a good burden and accept recompense with the last.

To her, the Baptist of Christ, the honest Forerunner, the extreme Prophet, the first martyr in grace, the teacher of fasters and hermits, the teacher of purity and the close friend of Christ, I pray to you, I resort to you: do not reject me from your intercession, but raise me up, having fallen into many sins; renew my soul with repentance, as with the second baptism, of which you are the ruler: with baptism wash away the original sin, and with repentance cleanse every bad deed; Cleanse me with the sins of the defiled and force me to enter, even if nothing bad enters, into the Kingdom of Heaven. Amen.
